Fantastic swims by our swimmers who made the trip to Horsham today competing against Atlantis, Beacon, Brighton, Crawley, Hailsham, East Grinstead,Hastings, Littlehampton Mid Sussex, Shiverers and Worthing.. There was some tough competition from some very large successful clubs but CCSC was not outclassed at all.
Up first this morning were the 12-13 year olds. The girls team of India, Alisa, Olivia and Tayla came 7th in the heats with a time of 2.25.07 and earned a place in the Finals to come a very respectable 8th overall. In the freestyle relay heats they were just pushed into 9th place
The 12-13 year old boys swam their hearts out in both the Medley and Freestyle relays only to find they had been DQ’d in both events. A real shame as they had some good times.
The afternoon saw the 10-11 and Junior events.
The younger boys were first up and set the target for the others with a brilliant 2nd place in the Medley heats dropping 6.05 seconds and then a fantastic silver medal for second in the Finals with a time of 2.45.59 just behind Worthing. In the freestyle they were fourth in the Heats and third in the Finals beaten by East Grinstead and Worthing with a time of 2.28.51.
The Junior girls: Laura, Olivia, Leila and Mia came 18th in both the Medley and Freestyle relays with a time of 2.22.49 and 2.06.50 against some very strong completion. A Big Thank You to Mia who stepped in at the last minute as Jess was unwell.
The Junior boys Seb, Rowan, Sam and Adam put in a great 6th place in the Medley to earn a place in the Final They then stormed to sixth place in the Finals with a time of 2.04.42. They followed this up with in the Freestyle with a fourth place in their heat and another place in the Final finishing 7th overall with a time of 1.52.74.
There were some good PB’s today.
Well done to everyone and very special thanks to Kerrie and Rebecca as team managers who had a fairly stressful time poolside!
