Open water swimming

Dates have just been announced for the South-East Open Water Championships. Anyone who’s been enjoying Darren’s distance sessions on a Wednesday, or has a hankering to swim longer races, will find this a good event.

The event is on Saturday 8 July at the Chichester Watersports Centre, Westhampnett. Details and an entry form can be found here:

Distances are 1500m, 3000m and 5000m. Any swimmer can enter any distance; the only criteria are that for the 1500m you must be at least 12 by the end of this year, and for the 3000m and 5000m you must be at least 13 by the end of the year.

(For swimmers interested in qualifying for the open-water nationals, the 1500m is a qualifier for 12-, 13- and 14-year olds. For 15- and 16-year-olds, it’s the 3000m, and for 17+ it’s the 5000m.)

    Clashes with the Chichester Junior triathlon and Aquathon which is a bit silly!!
