Welcome to the club’s first Friday newsletter. From now on, we’re planning to send one of these out most Fridays, collecting together non-urgent news about everything from time-trial and gala results to cake sales. (Urgent news about things like pool closures will still hit your inbox as soon as possible.)
Rother League, Round 1
Excellent work, everyone who raced in the Rother League Round 1 on 25 March. There were some great individual and team performances, and Cormorants took a well-fought third place. Big thanks to all the parent helpers and timekeepers who gave up their time.
The Red Nose Day cake sale was a fantastic effort: well done all the brilliant bakers and generous eaters! In total you raised £120 for Comic Relief.
The Littlehampton Open Meet is on Sunday 9 April; entries are now closed. We have ten swimmers taking part in 28 individual events. Good luck to everyone attending.
Next week we’ll be publishing a calendar of events for the rest of the year, with a bit of guidance about which open meets might be suitable for different levels of experience and ability.
The 14-and-under events in the 2017 South East Region Championships will take place at K2 Crawley on 13/14 and 27/28 May 2017. The closing date for entries is Tuesday 18 April 2017. The 15-and-over events will take place at Wycombe Leisure Centre on 29th/30th April and 1st May. Closing date for entries: Monday 10 April 2017. All entry times must appear on ASA Rankings and have been set at meets licensed at level 1, 2 or 3 since 1st June 2016. First-leg relay splits are NOT eligible. If you think you may have a qualifying time and would like to take part, please speak to Phil or one of the coaches.
Lions Club of Chichester Swimathon Saturday 13 May, Westgate Leisure Centre: if you are interested in taking part, let us know so we can put together some teams to retain our trophies from last year.
Summer Time Trials 50m Time Trials at Churchers College, Petersfield will be on Saturday 20 May 2017. This event is an opportunity for every swimmer to race in a 25m pool and gain times ready for galas and open meets. We’re a competition-based club, so please make sure you take part in the summer sprints unless it’s really impossible to make it.
Oh dear! Some club members affected by this year’s fee increase have still not changed their standing orders, even in time for the April payments. There are now quite a few people in arrears.
Checking 140 payments each month, sending reminders and chasing arrears is very time consuming and frustrating for our volunteer Treasurer. If you haven’t yet updated your standing order, please emend it with your bank and pay any arrears as soon as possible.
