Open Meets and Galas – Non-Attendance and Withdrawals
There have been several instances recently where swimmers have signed up to swim at Open Meets and or Club Galas and have:
• not arrived for the warm up
• have arrived late
• have left the venue without informing the Team Managers
• given very late notification and pulled out of the competition
This has several effects:
1. Team Managers are having to take time out from looking after and organising the swimmers to try to contact swimmers that have not arrived
2. Withdrawing at a very late stage can mean that a relay team is affected, or other swimmers may have to change events at a very late stage, causing issues for the coaches
3. If it is a Team Gala, the club can lose points which is disappointing for the other swimmers
4. The event will then run with empty lanes which is unfair on the other swimmers
5. The host club can fine CCSC, if swimmers are not withdrawn from events

6. You will still have to pay the entry fee unless there is an evidenced medical reason for non-attendance

As a reminder all Event Entry Fees must be paid when invoiced and before the event or your swimmer will not be permitted to swim. In any event, the entry fee will still be payable, as CCSC will have already paid the host club. No refunds of entry fees can be made unless the Host Club refunds the fees, which they will only do if there is an evidenced medical reason for a withdrawal.

The CCSC committee have therefore implemented the following policy with immediate effect:
Open Meets and Galas - Unable to compete
If you are late and/or miss sign in you will not be able to compete. If you/your child is unable to attend a competition, please email CCSC as soon as possible to:
[email protected].
YOU MUST also phone or text the Team Manager that you have been notified will be in attendance at the event. This ensures that the Team Managers and coaches know who is turning up at events and they can also let the competition organisers know.
If you fail to notify the Team Manager by the time of the Warm Up Session, then a fine of £5 per swimmer will be invoiced to you.
No swimmer must leave poolside at a Gala/Open Meet without informing the Team Manager.
